What Brianne Does to Show Toad PRIDE: A simple Google search on what a renaissance woman is will provide the following information: a woman of broad intellect, multi-faceted skills, and diverse accomplishments across several fields. Moreover, a renaissance woman is curiosity driven with a profound love of learning, a rejection of narrow specialization, and an ability to connect ideas across unrelated disciplines. Essentially, a renaissance woman has the ability to do many things really well. For Senior Brianne Stewart, she is the ultimate example of a renaissance woman because she excels in so many different areas as a Horned Toad at Coalinga High School.
As a four year member of the Lady Horned Toads Tennis Program, Brianne has come to be a critical part of their success. Brianne is part of a program that possesses multiple Western Sierra League titles and were proud champions of the illustrious Grapevine Classic which features top high school tennis programs from all over the Central Valley and beyond. This year the Lady Horned Toads have gotten off to a great start which includes an impressive 7-2 victory over Lemoore High School. For her part, Brianne defeated her opponent 8-0 to propel the Lady Horned Toads to victory. For Brianne, belonging to the tennis program is more than just on court success, it’s the positive energy of her coaches and teammates that make her proud to be a Lady Horned Toad. “The people on the team make it really special to me. I really love everyone and all of their different personalities,” humbly states Brianne, “This team makes me feel like I can be me and not be judged by anyone. It is like my second family.”
As a four year player for the Lady Horned Toads Tennis Program, Brianne Stewart has been key to their success on the courts.
In addition to the success she has found on the courts, Brianne has also excelled as a member of the Coalinga High School Band. As a true renaissance woman with a musical instrument in her hand, Brianne can play the piano, guitar, clarinet, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone. Brianne is always ready to support her fellow band mates and with RESOURCEFULNESS, is willing to step up when there is a need, even without being asked. “Going into her Sophomore year, she saw the need for Alto Saxophone in our ensemble and quickly moved to learn that new instrument,” comments CHS Band Director, Mr. Brumana, “Last year, as a Junior, she saw another need and made the move to Tenor Saxophone to support a need within the band. Brianne has empathy in abundance! She has the ability to silently recognize what needs to be done and takes steps to provide a resolution.” Brianne is appreciative of her time in band and like tennis, she has found a safe, comfortable place to thrive. “Mr. Brumana has created a safe, special place in the band room. We always have so much fun, which is what makes it special to me.” Beyond the achievements with a racket and instrument in hand, Brianne also belongs to the CSF Club, ELTEL Club, helps with the CHS Swim Team, lifeguards in the summer, works as a cashier, and holds a 4.1 overall GPA. For the PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, RESOURCEFULNESS, and EMPATHY she displays on the tennis courts, as a member of the band, and through her efforts in the classroom at Coalinga High School, Brianne Stewart has Toad PRIDE.
Brianne Stewart has turned into a RESOURCEFUL and EMPATHETIC leader for the CHS Band, learning multiple instruments and always stepping up when there is a need.
What Toad PRIDE Means to Brianne: “Toad pride means showing honor to the school. Being respectful to the school's property, students, and staff. Also, showing empathy is very big for me. Doing the right thing when no one is watching is really important.”
