Student: Manvir Singh
Year In School: Senior
Plans After High School: Manvir plans to attend Fresno State and explore more opportunities in mathematics and technology.
Toad PRIDE Focus: Personal Responsibility, Determination, and Integrity
What Manvir Does to Show Toad PRIDE: The great German-born theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein, once consoled a student struggling with their understanding of math by offering the following words of comfort, "Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater," In his statement, Einstein was offering encouragement to the student to have resilience in the face of difficulties in math because of how important the subject is. He believed that mathematics provided a framework for understanding the world and that there was beauty in solving complex problems. For Coalinga High School Senior, Manvir Singh, he too also sees the beauty in mathematics and learning in general because it allows him to solve complex problems to better help the world and his surrounding community.
In his four years as a Horned Toad student, Manvir has earned an impressive 4.14 GPA while being enrolled in some of the most rigorous courses at CHS including advanced placement and dual enrollment courses. Manvir invests his time and energy into his coursework because he ultimately knows that good grades will lead to more opportunities in life. “Good grades are important to me because I want to be prepared for college and my future,” states Manvir, “I'm planning to study mathematics, so doing well in school helps me work toward that goal.” Manvir’s DETERMINATION to be successful in the classroom is a result of his curious nature and trying to figure out complex problems - it’s why he finds mathematics and website development so intriguing. He enjoys math because he enjoys solving problems and he likes technology because he can be creative and build things. For his part, Manvir has taken his intellectual curiosity and practical skills to be a critical part in the maintenance and creation of various areas across CHS’s website, with the intent of having timely, creative, and accurate information for public consumption. Both subjects let him figure things out in different ways. Manvir hopes that students at CHS give their best effort in the classroom, so they too can have opportunities after high school. “I think students should try their best because they might learn something that helps them later in life,” states Manvir, “Even if a subject isn't their favorite, they can still learn useful skills from it. Everyone makes mistakes, and that's a normal part of learning.”

CHS Senior Manvir Singh has found interest in mathematics and in website development and hopes to have a future in one or the other after high school.
Beyond the curiosity of learning and exceptional grades he has earned, Manvir is known around campus as one of the most humble and kind students at CHS, showing EMPATHY towards everyone he meets. Manvir is quick to credit his parents for teaching him the value of respecting others, staying humble, and treating others the way that he wants to be treated. They also instilled the very important value of treating all people with kindness, not just people that he knows. For Manvir, a small act of kindness can help someone that may be going through a difficult time in their life. “Everyone has their own experiences and challenges, even if we don't know about them,” humbly comments Manvir, “Being kind can help people feel comfortable at school. We don't need to have the same interests or opinions as everyone else, but we should respect each other.” For the PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and DETERMINATION he has in the classroom to be prepared and challenge himself on a daily basis and for the EMPATHY and kindness he shows his peers at CHS, Manvir Singh has Toad PRIDE.

Manvir Singh (far right) has found success in his ability to design and develop websites, but it is humility and kindness towards others that seems to stand out the most.
What Toad PRIDE Means to Manvir: “To me, Toad PRIDE means being respectful, responsible, and treating people kindly. It means representing our school in a positive way and being someone others can get along with. I think how you treat people is just as important as your accomplishments.”
